Wellington welcomes back Sofitel

05 Oct 2017

To the delight of locals and international travellers, Sofitel Wellington will reopen its doors in October 2017 and welcome back its original opening team, following a temporary hiatus.

The 129-room, 14-storey hotel is returning to its status as the capital’s favourite destination for business and leisure, nestled between Wellington’s iconic landmarks The Beehive and the Botanical Gardens.

General Manager for Sofitel Wellington, Stephen Gould, said the Sofitel’s return has been highly anticipated.

“We are so excited to reopen our doors and pick up where we left off; offering Wellington locals, Kiwi travellers and tourists alike a place to relax and enjoy in a refined environment with a sophisticated ambience.

“It is important for us to resume our reputation as one of the capital’s finest hotels where guests come first. We are excited to once again see the hotel buzzing with activity and we have some great events planned for our welcome back, including stimulating talks, live music and culinary events which should really attract the local and international market,” he said.

With a wine list curated by New Zealand’s premiere wine authority John Saker, and menu designed by culinary star Royxeenn Giam, the hotel’s restaurant, Jardin Grill, promises to be a staple for locals and guests and has an imaginative menu based around the grill.

The Green Room lounge and bar lives up to its name with Bolton Street’s verdant gardens viewable through expansive floor to ceiling glass walls.

Sofitel Wellington is the third Sofitel for New Zealand, joining its award-winning sister properties Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour and Sofitel Queenstown Hotel & Spa. Guests enjoy beautifully-appointed rooms and suites in vintage gold and bronze tones with indulgent rain showers, complimentary wifi for multiple devices, Smart TVs with Bluetooth, a So Fit gymnasium and three meeting and event venues.

Sofitel Wellington is now bookable on accorhotels.com and sofitel.com for stays from 9 October 2017. Room rates start from $NZD269 per room per night.
